Friday fish fries are as much a Wisconsin tradition as the brandy old fashioned cocktail and nowhere are these weekend essentials as good as they are at Donny’s Girl Supper Club — I know because I’m there more Fridays than not.
Donny’s Girl is a warm, welcoming, family-owned restaurant where it’s often shoulder-to-shoulder people enjoying the festive atmosphere while waiting for a table. So when second-generation owner Jaci Mueller asked me to do her website, I was more than happy to oblige.
Jaci’s is an interesting story. Her parents bought the supper club in 1982 and she grew up wearing an apron and filling water glasses. For 22 years her parents served their guests well. In 2004 her parents retired and sold the business to an outside buyer. For a brief period it took on a new name and ambiance, but by 2007 it was once again for sale. Jaci and her husband Lorn bought it immediately.
Jaci had definite goals for her website. A welcoming, friendly vibe was a must. She also wanted to convey she was offering the same traditional supper club quality for which her parents had been known. With this in mind, we took a decidedly narrative approach with lots of warm and fuzzy photos by Mariah Bormann Photography. Get a sense of this here.
