My photography instructors often refer to “happy accidents,” meaning sometimes the photos we take don’t out exactly as planned. But maybe, just by accident, they turn out even better. That’s the case with this shot.
The unusual emptiness of the DC metro caught my eye and I hoped to capture the vanishing point of the underground walls. However, just as I snapped my camera, a woman with a hat and bag stepped out from behind the pillar.
I love how it turned out. She adds intrigue to the picture. And isn’t it interesting how the patterned walls all point to her?
